Race Start Waves - Self seeding with 2022 event registration!

Happy Monday everybody! We're only 12 days away from registration for the 2022 event opening. In the name of continuous improvement and always keeping an eye on safety, we've got some small changes in the works for the next edition. NEW for 2022 we are moving to self-seeded waves!! After much discussion we landed on self-seeding as the best move for our event to help stage riders where they ought to be. Using age groups, gender, bike type, etc... just never seems to work great. Each category always has riders gunning for top spots and those looking to take in the sights and enjoy a snack at an aid station. The race is chip timed so regardless of what wave you start in you won't be at a disadvantage with the clock.

Here's how this is going to work:
When registering you'll pick the category/distance of your choice and select whatever merchandise you'd like to order on the first page. The next steps will ask you a custom question about what wave you'd like to be in for your event. We'll have estimated finish times listed next to the wave options to help you pick what wave is right for you. We'll publish the final wave rosters and start times after registration closes on 3/11/22. You'll be able to edit your wave/start time anytime after you register until registration changes/transfers close so don't worry if things changes after you register and you need to change waves.

Why are we doing this?? The primary goal is with safety in mind. We want the fastest riders up near the front and the relaxed riders more towards the back to help alleviate passing concerns and congestion out on the course. This also allows riders in the same distance to choose to start together in the same wave! Got some friends you like to ride with and enjoy the scenery together? Now you can start together!

We have generous rider caps applied to the first few waves in each distance. We don't anticipate there being an issue getting the wave of your choice, but if you're concerned about being in the first wave of your distance then you'd better sign up early!!!
