YOUTH TEAM COMPETITION

Presents: The Barry Roubaix Youth Racing Initiative

STOKED ON ALL THE FAST YOUTH OUT THERE!

Let’s continue to encourage the next generation to race and see what we love about cycling and gravel. Race registration is FREE for all youth 18 and under racing the 18-Mile or 36-Mile distances - courtesy of Grand Rapids Chair Co. Youth registration remains open even if the event sells out.
The 1st place boy and girl in the 18 mile youth race categories will be crowned the “Youth National Gravel Champion”, receive a custom Primal Wear champions jersey and will be recognized during the awards.

TEAM COMPETITIONS 18 & 36 Mile Races:
In addition to racing as individuals, we also offer youth team competitions for both the 18 and 36 mile races. Youths will first compete as individuals, but they can also compete with their teammates to create a “Team competition time score” with the fastest 18 mile and 36 mile team winning $1,000 for their organization.

HOW IT WORKS:
All youth will still register for the event and compete as an individual first. You’ll be asked during registration if you plan to also compete in the team competition. There is no fee to participate in the youth team competition.
Your team name should be exactly the same across all teammates in your race registration profile.
We will build team rosters for both the 18-mile and the 36-mile races based on riders that select “yes” for participating in the youth team competition and then by combing riders with the same “team/sponsor name”.

YOUTH TEAM COMPETITION SCORING
*** NEW*** for the 2025 race!
1 female racer will be required as one of the 5 times that creates the team time score.

Team competition  times will be calculated by adding up the total time of the top 5 individual finishers from your roster to create a "total team time". One of those 5 individual times will be a female teammate.
The team with the lowest total team time wins. The winning team will be awarded a team competition trophy and recognized on stage at the awards party.
You must have a minimum of 5 racers (one being female) in the same distance that finish the race to have a team competition score. There is no maximum for the number of riders on a team, however only the top 5 times (One being a female teammate) from your roster will create your final team time scoring.
