I exchanged emails with Geoffrey Bernard today and he had this to say about Gary's progress. Today's test revealed the root cause of what happened. A pre-existing condition (mitral bridge? if I understood him correctly). A heart artery is routed thru cardiac muscle, not outside of it. The exertion occluded it. He gets fitted with a defibrillator and discharged tomorrow.
