Panaracer Psycho 100 racer details
Welcome to the 2021 edition of the Panaracer Psycho Killer 100-mile race! We are extremely excited to host racers in Hastings, MI to take on this beast of a gravel road race. Race central will be located in downtown Hastings on Church Street. It’s gonna be a crazy day of riding and racing all over Barry County on everything from paved roads to rugged two-tracks!
This race course is designed to be extremely difficult. There are sections where you will more than likely have to walk at one point or another. A few of the seasonal roads are pretty sandy, so you might want to consider at least 40mm Panaracer tires and Sager Rd will remain in the course regardless of conditions. I’m sure you’ll be watching the weather updates, but bring a big assortment of clothing as Michigan forecasts change quickly.
This race course is on roads open to all traffic, including jeeps and the occasional horseback rider, consider it part of the adventure. Safety is the number one priority, please obey all traffic laws and the instructions of Sheriff Marshals and volunteer corner marshals at intersections, and only roll through if you are directed to do so. You may be asked to stop for your own safety.
**Riders will be required to heed the M-37 traffic signal at mile 47. Failure to stop on a red light will result in a DQ!!! We will have volunteers there monitoring the intersection. This is a safety issue and is non-negotiable.
I repeat, the course will NOT be closed to traffic and cycling rules of the road apply, i.e. stop at all stop signs, yield to cars, no more than 2 riders abreast and do not cross yellow center line. Violations could be penalized by disqualification
One wave mass start at 7 AM EST. Please get there by 6:50 for final instructions. The race chute is located at the corner of Church st. and Green St. We will have a neutral roll-out with police escort East on Green St. until you cross M37 South.
**The sunrise on race day is 7:40 AM so a front and rear light will be mandatory.
The race course is NOT marked with the exception of some two-track intersections that do not have street signs. In this case we will mark the turns with a green arrow sign. It’s advised to carry a cue sheet (provided with racer packet) and/or map as a backup should you have GPS issues.
On course aid stations: You'll have three on course aid stations with water, Infinit Nutrition, bananas and an assortment of Floyd's of Leadville, Clif and Hammer fuel. The first aid is at mile 47, so plan your fuel accordingly.
> Distance from start to M-37 aid station: 47 miles
> Distance from start to Otis Lake aid station: 65 miles
